BASIC FUNCTION:
The Investigative Analyst provides direct support to investigators and investigative counsel (collectively, "investigators"). The incumbent performs investigative support, conducts records reviews in conjunction with investigations, organizes and maintains documents, uses a variety of investigative databases for research, and supports the functions necessary for successful mission accomplishment. The incumbent reports to the Assistant Inspector General for Investigations (AIGI) or designee.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent performs a variety of investigative, analytical, and research work as assigned by the AIGI, investigators, or on their own initiative, including the following:
Assists OIG investigators by conducting research, attending interviews, preparing documents and reports, scheduling meetings, preparing travel arrangements, and maintaining files.
Operates and manages the OIG Hotline and handles other intake, such as theft reports, and by analyzing and gathering information to determine the nature and proper handling of complaints.
Maintains and prepares investigative information for OIG's Semiannual Report to Congress, CIGIE Annual Report to the President, monthly report to the IG, and other reports.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
General: Knowledge of basic principles, concepts, and methods of investigations and legal processes; ability to plan and carry out assignments, coordinates work with others as necessary, and keeps AIGI or designee informed; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with employees within LSC and with other organizations. The work is sedentary and no special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Technical/Specialized: An undergraduate degree. Skill in operating a computer with knowledge of various office automation software (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc), and conducting searches of electronic databases to obtain information about persons and events relevant to inquiries and investigations.
NOTE The incumbent must undergo a background investigation to determine suitability for employment.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Salary Range $50,000 to $65,000, which includes locality pay, plus an excellent benefits package.
