BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the general direction of the Director and the Deputy Director, the primary function of this position is to perform on-site program assessment visits and prepare reports of such visits. It is anticipated that the incumbent will participate in a minimum of eight to ten visits per year. The position may also work with grantee programs to provide oversight and improve the delivery of legal services to the eligible population, including performing any combination of the listed duties and responsibilities in the Office of Program Performance. Travel is required. This position does not require residence in the DC area.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts oversight of grantees' ability to provide high quality, effective and efficient legal services.
Participates in on-site reviews of grantees, drafts reports of findings and makes recommendations for program improvement in service delivery, quality of legal work, legal work management, board governance, program leadership, management and administration.
Engages in other grants management activities, related to the design and implementation of the application process and the oversight of grants.
Promotes improvement of the grantees' capacity to provide high quality, effective and efficient legal services.
Assesses approaches to the delivery of legal services.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
General: Makes sound, well-informed and objective decisions; influences, motivates and challenges others; knows LSC's mission, functions and operations; identifies and understands trends that affect LSC, its grantees and their clients; is able to devise service delivery strategies to address those trends; displays a high-level of initiative; and works with minimal supervision.
Technical/Specialized: Admission to the Bar of the highest court in a jurisdiction, plus eight (8) years of experience related to the delivery of civil legal services to low income persons (eight years of equivalent legal experience will also be considered); management experience with legal services programs or non-profits organizations, familiarity with the LSC Performance Criteria; capacity to interpret laws and regulations as they influence the legal services delivery system and the ability to design and implement changes that respond to these laws.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Position will be compensated at a daily rate of $500. Temporary part-time employees are not eligible for benefits.
