The Legal Services Corporation is the single largest funder of civil legal services in the nation. Established by Congress, LSC operates as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that provides grants for high-quality civil legal assistance to low-income Americans. The grants are awarded to nonprofit legal aid programs in every state, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories. The legal aid programs address the civil legal needs of the elderly, veterans and military families, victims of domestic violence, people with disabilities, tenants and homeowners facing foreclosure or eviction, victims of natural disasters, and others.

National Legal Services Corporation to Honor Six Michigan Attorneys for Outstanding Pro Bono Work

Washington, DC—The national Legal Services Corporation (LSC) Board of Directors will honor six Michigan lawyers at an event on Thursday, July 26, for their volunteer work with LSC-funded legal aid programs.  

An awards ceremony and reception will be held at the University of Michigan Law School, South Hall, Student Lounge, 701 South State Street in Ann Arbor, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. 

State Bar of Michigan President Julie I. Fershtman will give remarks.
