Legal Services Corporation

The Legal Services Corporation is the single largest funder of civil legal services in the nation. Established by Congress, LSC operates as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that provides grants for high-quality civil legal assistance to low-income Americans. The grants are awarded to nonprofit legal aid programs in every state, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories. The legal aid programs address the civil legal needs of the elderly, veterans and military families, victims of domestic violence, people with disabilities, tenants and homeowners facing foreclosure or eviction, victims of natural disasters, and others.

LSC President Jim Sandman Receives D.C. Bar’s 2015 Brennan Award

The D.C. Bar today named Legal Services Corporation (LSC) President Jim Sandman as the 2015 recipient of its William J. Brennan Jr. Award for his commitment in pursuing equal justice and opportunity for all Americans.

Sandman will be honored with a presentation on June 16 at Celebration of Leadership: The D.C. Bar Awards Dinner and Annual Meeting. The event will be held in Washington, D.C. at the Grand Ballroom of the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel.
