Former Pennsylvania Governor Dick Thornburgh's Writes Op-Ed Supporting LSC
On March 5, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette published an op-ed by former Pennsylvania Governor Dick Thornburgh. In his piece, Governor Thornburgh stressed the importance of civil legal aid to communities and to equal justice. He explained how defunding the Legal Services Corporation would devastate the ability of legal aid programs to serve clients.
“That would affect every city, county and state in the country, including tens of thousands of residents here in Pennsylvania,” he wrote. “Which is why I am calling upon members of Congress from Pennsylvania to ensure that the LSC continues to provide critical support to legal aid programs in this state and throughout the United States.”
Governor Thornburgh is a member of LSC's Leaders Council.
