FOIA

The Freedom of Information Act, which was enacted in 1966, gives any person the right to request access to federal agency records or information. All agencies of the United States government are required to disclose records upon receiving a written request for them, except for those records that are protected from disclosure by the FOIA.

While the Legal Services Corporation is not an agency of the U.S. government, it is subject to the FOIA, and the Corporation must release records to requesters unless the records are protected from disclosure by the FOIA.
