LSC has issued a revised Case Service Report Handbook, effective January 1, 2008, which instructs staff of LSC programs how to count and report cases to LSC. The revised handbook is an important component of LSC's Quality Agenda—a multi-pronged strategy to improve the delivery of legal services nationwide. Revisions to the handbook seek to ensure that LSC-funded programs provide consistent data that can be accurately combined to reflect the level of civil legal services across the nation. The revised handbook:

• clarifies the standards for reporting a CSR case;
• clarifies the requirements for documentation required to support each case;
• updates and clarifies the Case Closure Categories and Legal Problem Categories under which CSR cases are reported; and
• provides clarity on the issues relating to CSR reporting that have arisen since the last revision of the CSR Handbook.
