The U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee included $566 million in funding for the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) today when they approved the Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies (CJS) Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations legislation.

House Appropriations Subcommittee Proposes 46% Cut to LSC Funding
The House of Representatives Appropriations Subcommittee included $300 million in funding for the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) today in their proposed Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies (CJS) Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations legislation. This represents a 46% cut from LSC’s FY 2025 funding level of $560 million.

Legal Services Corporation to Host Detroit Forum Focused on Housing Stability
The Legal Services Corporation (LSC) will host a Detroit forum on July 15 highlighting ongoing efforts to expand access to civil legal services in Michigan, with a particular emphasis on local housing initiatives. The forum will take place at the DoubleTree Suites, 525 W. Lafayette Blvd., from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. ET. It will also be livestreamed on LSC’s YouTube page.
