Peer Learning Lab

What is the Peer Learning Lab?

LSC’s Peer Learning Lab is a virtual learning platform facilitated by LSC that brings together legal services staff, leaders and partners to explore emerging solutions to common challenges.

The Lab is designed to be:

  • Practical – centered on real projects from legal aid organizations
  • Peer-driven – led by practitioners, not vendors
  • Reusable – sharing policies, templates and roadmaps
  • Responsible – grounded in ethics, privacy and professional obligations

All sessions are recorded, and materials are shared so participants can return to them as needed.

AI Peer Learning Lab

In 2025, LSC launched its first Peer Learning Lab focused on Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). The goal was to help organizations move from curiosity to responsible use — integrating AI to support staff and clients while maintaining trust and accountability.

The AI Lab explores how generative AI can support:

  • Operations – administrative work, grants management, data analysis
  • Legal work – research assistance, document review, drafting support
  • Legal information & self-help – chatbots, triage tools, referrals
  • Intake & hotlines – issue classification, routing, Voice AI

Every session emphasizes security, accuracy, human review, thoughtful investments and responsible use.

How the Lab Works

  • Regular virtual sessions led by LSC’s Technology Initiative Grants (TIG) team
  • Presentations and demonstrations from legal aid peers
  • Interactive discussion and Q&A
  • Workshop and office hour sessions for hands-on collaboration
  • Ongoing access to recordings and shared resources

The AI Peer Learning Lab Hub offers case studies, short summaries of successful AI projects, in addition to hosting webinar recordings and materials.

Looking Ahead

Gen AI is the first focus of LSC’s Peer Learning Lab — but not the last. As new technologies and service delivery models emerge, the Lab will continue to support shared learning across the civil legal aid community.

The approach stays the same: start with real problems, learn together, test carefully and keep
our mission and clients at the center.

Join the Peer Learning Lab

The Peer Learning Lab is open to the civil legal services community, including legal services staff, leaders, technologists, funders and researchers.
